PLV Ed Matters Celebrates Success in Local Education Elections
La Vista, NE, November 6, 2024 – PLV Ed Matters is proud to announce the successful election of local candidates dedicated to supporting public education and representing the interests of our community. We extend our congratulations to Marcus Madler and Skip Bailey on their re-election to the Papillion La Vista Community Schools Board of Education, and our congratulations and a very warm welcome goes to Elizabeth Butler, who will join the Board for the first time. Additionally, we extend our congratulations to Maggie Douglas on her election to the State Board of Education, and to Jason Taylor on his election to the Learning Community. Each of these leaders earned their position through hard work and dedication, and we are thrilled to have them represent our families, schools, and community.
PLV Ed Matters is a grassroots organization founded by local parents united by a shared passion for public education and a deep appreciation for those who serve our families in our schools. As parents within the PLCS community, we’ve witnessed countless remarkable moments facilitated by our dedicated teachers and staff. Unfortunately, we’ve also observed unwarranted negativity and baseless attacks directed at our teachers and school board members. We firmly believe that those who love and support our schools far outweigh the dissenting voices, and our efforts are grounded in the belief that when voters are provided with accessible, factual information, they will make informed choices that are best for our schools. With this conviction, and entirely independent of any one political party or politician, we founded PLV Ed Matters — a united, non-partisan effort to ensure that our schools remain exceptional for our children, your children, and our community.
To everyone who volunteered, donated, or supported us by cheering on our efforts – you have our deepest gratitude. Whether you spread the word of our fundraisers, delivered information door-to-door, or amplified our message on social media, your support was crucial in our mission of ensuring every voter had the information necessary to make an informed decision, and every single one of you made an impact.
Finally, from the bottom of our hearts, we thank you, voters. You’ve shown how much our schools mean to all of us and how attacks on our schools and teachers by those with extreme agendas won’t be tolerated. Your decisions have proven that there is far more that brings us together than drives us apart.
