Our Mission

PLV Ed Matters is committed to promoting board of education members and candidates serving Papillion-La Vista who recognize that our educators form the bedrock of our schools. We firmly believe that supporting our teachers is not only essential for strengthening our educational institutions but also for fostering a more vibrant and cohesive community.

Core Beliefs and Goals

1. Inclusive Education: We champion a public education system that serves all students, irrespective of their race, gender, ability, sexual orientation, religion, nationality, immigration status, or socioeconomic background. Every child deserves an educational environment where they feel welcomed and valued.
2. Trust in Our Educators: We trust the expertise of our educators. Board of education candidates who value and respect their insights are the candidates we wish to promote. Their experience and dedication drive positive change.
3. District Improvement: We support endeavors that enhance our district. Whether it’s infrastructure upgrades, innovative programs, or community partnerships, we’re committed to progress.
4. Local Control and Community Understanding: We believe in local control of our public schools. Decisions about education impacting Papillion-La Vista should be made by those who seek to understand the unique needs of our community. School board members must prioritize the physical and mental well-being of students and staff and act in the best interest of our entire community. Their decisions should remain unswayed by partisan politics, guided solely by what is best for our schools and the futures of our students.
5. Informed Voters: Our primary goal is to inform voters about school board candidates. Historically, school board races have suffered from a lack of information, leaving voters in the dark. We aim to change that by providing clear information about candidates’ stances on education, and exposing those candidates who falsely present themselves during their campaigns.
6. Teacher Support: Not all candidates prioritize our educators. We stand by our educators and seek to elevate their voices. A strong public education system hinges on the well-being and empowerment of our teaching and curriculum professionals.
7. Defenders of Public Education: Baseless attacks against our public schools and staff threaten the very foundation of our community. We stand as a shield, countering misinformation and advocating for evidence-based policies. We love our public schools and advocate for their continued success.
8. Issue Awareness: We strive to bring attention to critical issues affecting public education within our district. From funding challenges to curriculum enhancements, we want our community to be well-informed and engaged.
